Waking up to a Magical Wonderland
Remember when you were a child and you got an unexpected snow day from school? Reflecting back I can still feel the adrenaline rush and anticipation of sitting by the A.M. radio, feverishly listening, waiting for my school’s name to be called. And when it finally was, you’d have thought I had won the lottery, screaming up and down, feeling the force of life course through my veins like lightening bolts of pure joy and energy that could not be contained. That indescribable rush of pure bliss, excitement, and enthusiasm was magic in its simplest form.
But somewhere along the way, adulthood crept in, the years passed, life happened and I forgot about that feeling. This is the same feeling we are supposed to live by and experience every day life with. Every day. All day. In every moment. Then something wonderful happened in 2011 that “woke me up” from my hibernating winter bear state and brought this feeling back into my universe. I adopted this amazing 8 week old furry, fiery blazing ball of energy, miracles, and magic tricks that I named Spice. And boy was she my “Spice of Life”, the great beaming Cosmic Central Sun that I didn’t know existed or that I truly needed as my teacher and Spirit Guide in life.
With her, snow days were taken to a whole new level of ecstasy, and this time had nothing to do with a day off from school. Instead it was about playing, creating, and getting in the game of life, redefining and reinventing myself and my purpose on earth along the way. There was only one thing Spice loved more than swimming at the park, and that was snow days, because then she could dive head first and roll around for hours in the snow at the park, dragging me along with her.
The snow had fallen the night before, leaving behind a blanket of a sparkling white wonderland. But by the time morning arrived, the sun decided to grace the world with its warm presence and join the mystical vision unfolding around us. Reflecting off the glittery snow, the sun was almost blinding to the eye. The temperature outside reached 50 degrees by ten o’clock in the morning. It was one of those rare days in winter that feels like a gift from above.
I had planned to stay home that day and tackle chores, but Spice had other plans for us. And her tenacious and relentless persistence trumped my chores and plans, so off we headed to the park for a walk. Spice and I walked the same route we took every day to the park. But that particular day, it didn’t feel the same. That day felt enchanted to the point where I felt goosebumps.
The Walk- A World Transformed
We strolled leisurely through a forest that had been transformed within hours into an amazing fairyland. The pine trees were draped in shimmering snow-crystals, and the path ahead looked like a carpet of glitter rolled out exclusively for us. Everything sparkled, not just the snow, but the moment itself.
Spice, as always, led the way, off leash, frolicking and running in and out of trees and trails. Ears perked, tail wagging, nose to the air. But more than a dog on a walk, she was my guide to something bigger. She never saw the ordinary. To her, every snowflake was a gift, every scent was a story, every day held the potential for magic. That day, in particular, I believed her more than ever.
One of the pictures I took from that walk (one of Spice and me in the snow) is now framed in my house. It’s more than a memory; it’s a reminder. A frozen-in-time whisper from Spice that says, “Every day magical manifestations and miracles are all around us and very real. Do you see them?”
Spice: The Magnificent Manifestor
Spice was my magnificent manifestor. She didn’t just hope for good things; she created them. She looked for them. She inspired them. She explored them. She immersed herself in them. She brought them out of me. She sought out joy and happiness in everyday life and taught me to do the same. She helped me believe that miracles aren’t rare. They’re inevitable, just waiting for us to notice them.
But the most beautiful and inspiring miracle I witnessed that day, etched forever in my memory, was watching Spice’s bliss as she ran free through the woods and snow. Her joy was pure, wild, and uncontained. She bounded with a level of happiness I had never known myself, a freedom so genuine it was breathtaking. In that moment, she wasn’t just my dog. She was the embodiment of what it means to be truly alive, free-spirited, and wonderful.
The Lesson: Everyday Magic
I believe now, more than ever, that we are magical manifestors of miracles, put on this earth to heal and empower others. We all have this common life force, power, and creativity within us. When we tap into and grow this we can transform the world through beauty, joy, inspiration and love that is unique to us. And when we make a conscious choice to show up each day as the greatest and best versions of ourselves, not only for us, but for others we are unstoppable and invincible with what we can be, do, say or have. When we choose to walk through life with open eyes and open hearts, when we listen to our intuition and call to serve humanity with our talents and gifts, and step away from the to-do list long enough to go outside and be alive, miracles and magic result.
The Invitation
If you’re reading this and wondering where the magic has gone in your life please know it is still there, it is still yours, and it is meant for you to re-discover and step into. Maybe it’s waiting for you on a sunny snow-covered trail. Or maybe it’s right in front of you, in the wag of a tail, the warmth of the sun, or the sparkle of snow on pine needles. Don’t miss it. Claim it. Embrace it. Accept it as the new 2.0 version of you. Command it and accept nothing less. Spice did.
